Rakhee Wood BSc (Hons) DipPFS

Founder & IFA

I’ve always loved numbers. At school, I thought I’d become an accountant. I’m so glad I didn’t (I just ended up marrying one instead!) Now, I get to combine the two things I love most: numbers and people.

I studied Maths at the University of Manchester and went on to earn my Diploma in Financial Planning. What I love most about this work is the sense of achievement I get from seeing someone feel calm, clear and confident about their finances. There’s nothing better than helping someone take control of their money and start living their best financial life.

Outside of work, I’m a mum of two energetic boys. I love reading (especially Booker Prize nominees), going to the theatre, and escaping the spreadsheets with a good story.

On Saturday mornings, you’ll usually find me on a park run — huffing and puffing at the back. I also love travelling and learning about different people, cultures and ways of seeing the world.

Jon Wood BSc (Hons)

Managing Director

I’ve always been curious about how things work — whether that’s businesses, spreadsheets, or people’s approach towards achieving big-picture goals. I studied Maths and Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool.

Then, I became a Chartered Accountant.
Later, I started my own accountancy practice from the ground up. I grew it, ran it, and eventually sold it — so I understand the ups and downs of running a business, and what it really takes to make it sustainable.

At Butterfly, my role is all about turning your financial picture into a clear plan that supports your life, not just your numbers. For me, it always comes back to one thing: What do you want your life to look like — and how can we help you get there?

Outside of work, I’m a big fan of travel and have a special love for New Zealand. I also ran the Boston Marathon in 2025 — an experience I’ll never forget.

Karen Malin FCII

Compliance Consultant

In 2006, I started my own consultancy after years as a compliance director. I help financial advisers like Butterfly, mortgage brokers, and insurance firms tackle the growing challenge of regulatory compliance.

I use a practical, hands-on method to provide straightforward support to the team at Butterfly to help ensure all correspondence and propositions such as financial reports and central documentation meet the complex and ever-changing regulatory requirements.

I’m based in Leeds, but remote working is second nature by now. I’ve been doing it long before it became the norm!

Outside of work, I’m a lifelong lover of sport and the outdoors. I'm a proud rugby fan (and former player!) I also have a soft spot for dogs, Greece, and spending time with friends and family. But not necessarily in that order.

What don’t I love? Global disharmony. Traffic jams. Mobile roaming charges.
